Mantua hosted one of the stages of the EX.TRE.M (EXcellence in TheatRE with Migrants) project, an Erasmus+ initiative that aims to use theater as a tool for social integration and personal development for young people with migrant backgrounds in Europe. From October 10 to 13, the city of Gonzaga was the stage for intense artistic work involving 35 participants from all over Europe. The activities took place mainly at Teatro Magro’s HOME and also co-involved other significant places in the city, such as the Creative Lab space in Lunetta. The EX.TRE.M project, funded by the Belgian National Agency, has seven international partners: Teatro Magro (IT), Asinitas (IT), Babel Crew (IT), La Concertation action culturelle bruxelloise (Belgium), Medeber Teatro (Belgium), Alrahallah theatre (Germany) and S.mou.th (Greece). As part of institutional relations, Councillor Serena Pedrazzoli will meet with the project’s 35 European partners on Friday, Oct. 10.
Mattia Palazzi Mayor of Mantua: “We are proud that Mantua has been chosen as a stage for the European project EX.TRE.M, which brings to our city a message of inclusion and dialogue through theatrical art, and I thank Teatro Magro and all the project partners for their commitment to building a more inclusive and supportive society.”
