The Consortium

For years this consortium has been working for the social inclusion of migrant youth using theatre techniques. All partners have experience in European projects where theatre and performing arts are the main tools to include youth with migrant background.

In Belgium, Italy, Greece and Germany there is a need for new tools to include migrant youth in the hosting communities: youth workers are looking for non-formal techniques to work in these changing and hard times, made more difficult by the post-pandemic phase.

EX.TRE.M. project wants to contribute to the creation of a common ground where theatre and creativity are the basis of youth work to reduce migrant youth problems, also thanks to the unique experiences of the partners which are working with these target groups in previous projects funded by Creative Europe programme.

Previous EU projects run by the partners have confirmed the efficacy of theatre for the personal and social development of migrant youth: theatre and creativity help them to take control of the world in which they live, thanks to the self-awareness and self-confidence acquired through theatre. This process is led, supported and encouraged by youth workers, who will develop new methods and techniques in their daily work with youth. The project will offer resources and experiences which can be adapted to different contexts, situations and young target groups, exchanging good practices in the field of youth work, theatre and social inclusion. E.X.TRE.M. project is the answer to the need to create guidelines and innovative work to be used in the post-pandemic phase. Mixing the different theatre approaches of all partners will create a new and innovative methodology which will help youth workers when working the theatre and young migrants.
